Diving into Storyteller Language

In my experience, some students find it difficult to pick up on storyteller language. Last year I taught a Grade 1/2 class and therefore, kept the transition language simple. However, since I am teaching Grade 2/3 this year, I decided to delve in deeper and explore various parts of the story and how language can help our stories flow.


I used the transition word chart that was created by TheChitown Teacher (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/The-Chitown-Teacher). I also made little charts that the students could use from their desks.

This week we explore the concepts of Odd and Even numbers. Again, I chose to model a story that emphasized the Storyteller Language.








I usually work with my teacher librarian, however, this week I was unable to get a time slot to work with her. It was more challenging to assist the students because some of them need time and teacher conversations to see where to meaningfully at the math.
